These are the remains of the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, built in 1915. At 8:15 AM, August 6, 1945 the Enola Gay B-29 bomber _drop_ped the first atomic bomb approximately 160 meters southeast of this building, 600 meters up in the air. Because the blast came from above, many of the walls were left standing and the building has been preserved as the Hiroshima Peace Memorial.
